Instead they originate in a different place, a place we call the heart.
(Anthony K. Tjan, Harvard Business Review, 2012)
The core of my plan is to work with indie artists. Where else but the heart could that desire originate from? I came up with the basic idea in the late 90s, didn’t have the skill-set or backbone to go through with it. Instead I constantly adhered to the idea and kept developing it, until the setting was right. The past three years have shown me how to and how not to run a company. How to deal with small to big clients and with major jackasses. I’ve met lots of mostly nice business partners and made some good friends. But by the end of 2012 I was more than ready to try things on my own.
Thanks to the different paths my journey took until now I gained deep knowledge in almost every field I need to start a successful business. To finally give it a name: a agency for digital marketing with a focus on the music industry. The services include consulting, concept and realization of the online and mobile presence based on responsive webdesign, awareness- and performance-campaigns as well as the required technical setup like webhosting, adserving and analytics. A digital full service agency if you will.
While working for various clients I’ll develop a web-app that specializes in serving the needs today’s indie-band have to digitally promote their music. You shouldn’t have to know how to install a MySQL-databaseor dig into the code when your job is to create art.
I love open source, will use the best stuff available and try to give something back to the community. WordPress will surely be the center of attention. What used to be a simple blogging system transformed into a full-blown content management publishing machine. OpenX will be the adserving-weapon of choice. MariaDB will power the database. I myself will be fueled by lots of fair trade coffee. A big THANK YOU to my friends at tape.tv for their half-a-liter coffee-buckets.
Time to get to work. I’ll keep you posted.
